Welcome to our website and to our on-going journey in which we frolic, stumble, and claw our way Back to the Land – a semi-self-sufficient adventure.

Our names are Nick and Charlotte. In November 2014 we made a momentous lifestyle leap. We fled from New Zealand’s “Big Smoke”, Auckland City, opting instead for a slower pace of life in the middle of nowhere, deep in the lush Waikato.

Our humble cottage, nearing a century old, sits upon the rolling contour of forty-two empty acres, or as we like to view it, our canvas. We envision an orchard, gardens, specimen trees, and an extended family of feathers and fur.
